Mary in the Hall

Mary in the Hall

Narrative of an oil painting, representing the Virgin Mary, moments before the Annunciation. She is an african-american teenage girl, holding a bowl of cherries and a book of scripture, unaware of the tremendous change which lies ahead of her. Dressed in an 19th century french fashion, the painting seems classical, taking notes from the old masters. The iconography is used to give clues about the character.
